The compressor is one of four major components that allow the refrigerator to function. The compressor compresses the refrigerant and regulates its flow. The compressor raises the pressure of evaporator gas from low to high. As the gas is compressed and the pressure increases, the temperature rises.
The compressor is the "heart" of a refrigerator. It circulates refrigerant throughout the system, increases pressure in the warm circuit, and heats refrigerant. Pumping air into a bicycle tube is similar in that the pump heats up as the air is compressed.
